About four to six weeks after Isla was born, her parents noticed birthmarks and suspected neurofibromatosis, leading them to consult a pediatrician and dermatologist. Initially, Isla had only one characteristic of NF, but by one year old, she developed a second. Both parents tested negative for NF, confirming Isla's case as spontaneous. At 2.5 years old, Isla had a seizure, and an MRI revealed a moderate-sized tumor on her neck, leading to a diagnosis of plexiform neurofibroma NF1. After two years of medication, the tumor is shrinking, and Isla's medical evaluations have been reduced from every three months to every six months, allowing breaks from medication.

Isla just finished kindergarten and will be starting 1st grade in the fall. Her favorite color is purple, and she adores princesses. Isla and her family are excitingly looking forward to their upcoming Disney adventure!
