Mary-Kate O’Leary has served as Executive Director of A Wish Come True for the past seven years, leading a period of significant organizational growth, innovation, and expanded impact. Under her leadership, the organization has dramatically increased both its services and geographic reach, now serving families across Rhode Island, Central and Southeastern Massachusetts, and Eastern Connecticut.
During her tenure, A Wish Come True has strengthened its position as the only wish-granting organization in the region that also provides direct financial assistance to families as they recover from the emotional and financial trauma of caring for a child with a life-threatening illness. Mary-Kate has championed a holistic approach to wish-granting—ensuring families receive not only moments of joy, but meaningful, ongoing support.
Mary-Kate has also led the successful growth and diversification of the organization’s fundraising efforts by increasing community awareness, cultivating strategic partnerships, and actively engaging and leveraging the leadership of the Board of Directors. Her collaborative, relationship-driven approach has resulted in increased sustainability, stronger governance, and expanded capacity to serve more families each year.
