Acushnet boy raises money to grant wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses

(WJAR) — A n Acushnet boy is turning his love for hockey into a powerful mission: granting wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses.

Jack Leandro, 8, founded Pucks for Bucks that raises money for non-profit A Wish Come True.

He is raising money by shooting thousands of hockey pucks. Each puck is worth $1.

He has raised over $4,000 so far.

Leandro said he was inspired by the time his sister Sydney received a wish from the organization while she was battling leukemia.

"I want to get it up to 10,027," he said.

The number is because 27 is his favorite hockey number.
