RI – Tom
Prendergast, President of the Board of Directors for A Wish Come True,
Inc., has announced the resignation of Executive Director Deborah St.
Peter from the organization. St. Peter has served as Executive
Director since April of 2007, after serving as President and Chief
Executive Officer of a local children’s charity from 1995 to 2002, and
serving as the Executive Director of the Cranston
Department of Senior Services since 2003.
St. Peter has departed Rhode
Island and relocated to Arizona, where her husband John Heathcote has
accepted a consulting position. She will remain on A Wish Come
True's Advisory Board, and the Board of Directors and staff thank her
for her dedication to our children and our mission. We wish her well
in all of her future endeavors!

An Old Friend Becomes A New Addition
Sports Broadcaster John Rooke named
Development Director
For RI’s Oldest Wish-Granting
Organization

“A Wish Come True”
has had such a
friend for the past 19 years, and now, for perhaps many more to
come.Local, regional
and national sports broadcaster John Rooke, currently a Rhode Island
radio fixture as the “Voice of the Providence Friars,” has been
named to the position of Development Director for Rhode Island’s
oldest wish-granting organization to children ages 3 through 18.
“We’re very excited to have John join
our organization,” Rosemary Bowers, Founder and Executive Director said.“We began our relationship in 1989 when he was with WPRI Channel
12, working on fundraising projects together, and he has been very
supportive of our efforts since that time.We’re going to utilize his media and fundraising skills to
raise awareness, as well as needed funds for our children, and we’re
looking forward to granting many more wishes to our Rhode Island and
Southeastern Massachusetts kids and their families.”
“Rosemary has been a friend for almost
two decades, and her tireless efforts for the kids has always amazed
me,” Rooke said.“I’m
very happy, and honored, to help Rosemary and her staff in their goal to
assist these children in helping their wishes come true.”
Rooke’s media experience, in addition to
his broadcast duties as the “Voice of the Friars” for the past 18
years, includes current announcing responsibilities for the New England
Patriots and New England Revolution, as well as hosting national talk
programs for ESPN Radio, and teaching journalism at Emerson College in
Boston.He
has been an on-air personality for several television and radio stations
throughout New England, has served on the staff of former Rhode Island
Governor Lincoln Almond, and has contributed to many charitable causes
along the way.He and his wife Hanna reside in Rumford, RI, with their son
Austin.Another son, Ryan, is
now working his way through school at Rhode Island College.
